OH!!!!!!! I am getting so excited for Morocco! I am not sure quite what it is that I am most excited about.... culture shock? Playing with little people? Empowering big people? Moroccan food? Being so so so out of my box? The flight.....
HA HA!! I am wondering how appropriate it would be to bring a laptop? Should I be worried about theft or toting it around? I am trying to think up ways to entertain myself on the flight. Ipod? Books? Journal? Should I bring a snack? I am wondering what exactly to bring for clothes? What will be the best universal shoe? How important is it to wear a headscarf? I hope my manners are up to snuff!!! Oh yes- the language barrier....hmmmm I am thinking of putting together in my journal the words and phrases I possible will use most translated to Arabic and French. Oh and a conversion sheet for currency- In case I want to hit the glorious Medina!!!!!!!!!
Are any of my soon to be good friends in Morocco here yet???

Theresa, Are you there yet? If so, I hope you are having a blast...I am heading to China next week, but for a while there I thought you were in my head. Same questions, same excitement! Oh, yeah, and that flight is intimidating because I am not using the luxury liner. Is the iPod or Kindle overkill (I will be conspicuous enough without it/them). Can't leave the laptop, though. Let us know how you are getting along.

Hi everybody! How long is everyone going to be in Rabat? I will be there for 11 weeks (Jan 23-April 10). I'm most worried about the language barrier. My French is beginner at best and my Darija nonexistent. When is everyone getting there? I'm going to be bringing my laptop although I will probably keep it in the Home Base most of the time. I have to look into a lock system of some sort. IPod- definite yes!!!!! Books- definite yes! OMG Theresa I have been wondering the same about the shoes. I know you aren't supposed to wear flip-flops because the ground is pretty dirty but I'm not a big sneakers person. I'm most excited to meet everyone, this is going to be great!

@Erin: This is my first CCS trip but from what I have experienced so far the staff is really great and helpful. Also, I have spoken to a couple of people who did the program in Morocco and they all speak very highly of it. I hope we will see you there!

I'm hoping to sign up for the Rabat program in a couple of months. I'll be really interested to see what you think, especially about bringing technology with you to blog, take pix, and otherwise keep the folks at home updated. Laptop? Netbook? Just an iPhone or Droid? Go old-school with the Internet Cafe?

Thanks again to everyone. My Arabic teacher- he's from a little town east of Fes- told me tonight it would be crazy to go try to do the trip in a weekend and go to Marrakech. I told him I think a weekend without a toilet is all my daughter can take…
