Samira Lawau

I'm going to volunteer in San Carlos, Costa Rica and I need your help

Hello Dear Friends:

My name is Samira Lawau and I am a recent college graduate (Stony Brook Class of 2008), its been hard finding a job in New York City. Therefore, I have decided to volunteer abroad with Cross-Cultural Solutions and get hands-on experience working side-by-side with local people in Costa Rica. So as to build up my resume. The world is facing challenging times and I want to do my part to help make a difference and learn about global issues.

Understanding the perspectives of people overseas is a critical first step for me, I am excited to become an international volunteer and I’m committed to serve in any way that I can. I will be volunteering for 12 weeks at a placement where the CCS staff will match my skills and interests to the immediate needs of the community, shortly before I leave for my program.

Will you please help me on this journey by becoming my sponsor? I will gain new perspectives on the issues facing this country and community, and I pledge to share my experiences with you along the way and upon my return.

I need to raise $6,641 of any amount you can pledge at this time, will go toward the program fee, which covers my pre-departure support, in-country orientation, cultural activities, lodging at a CCS Home-Base in a safe, residential community, all meals and bottled water, local transportation and much more. With CCS, I will also meet local experts in the community and will be working alongside volunteers from all over the world.

Cross-Cultural Solutions is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that operates volunteer programs in Asia, Africa, Latin America and Eastern Europe, in partnership with sustainable community initiatives. Founded in 1995, its mission is to bring people together to work side-by-side while sharing perspectives and fostering cultural understanding. Each year, over 4,000 people volunteer abroad with CCS.

Your contribution is 100% tax-deductible and you can contribute by credit card and track my progress on my sponsor page online (just enter my last name), { LAWAU } or send a check to Cross-Cultural Solutions on my behalf. I really need your support and I appreciate any contribution you can make to help me by November 18, 2009. If you have any questions, please feel free to call me at [646-457-5706] or Cross-Cultural Solutions at 1-800-380-4777or 1-914-632-0022.

Please accept my sincere thanks,

Samira Lawau

P.S: I emailed and wrote letters to all my friends and family does anyone have any fundraising ideas. I pray I meet the dead line.
