Bloomin heck, I've just realised Cathy and I have posted practically the same profile picture. May have something to do with the fact that she took my picture and I took hers as we were there at the same time - te he he! Great minds and all that......

Ha ha,
Now more of the gang are here! It looks like this will become our new Facebook and we can keep up with each other here instead! Seeing and catching up with Serena was brilliant so I definitely think that other trips will be on the agenda when the studies are over - or before if the finances allow!!!
Lots of love and well done with the page.

Happy days!!

Things going good here. Me and Andy are back together and getting on really well....i think i was having a bit of an early mid life crisis as i must have been mad to give up on such a great bloke!

Shashana came down for a quick visit the other week..it was so good to catch up..i do miss you guys and the cookies!!

Nothing too exciting going on in my life but did manage to have a weekend in Madrid which was lovely and i am going to be a godmother on Sunday to my neice.

What are your plans for the next year? Anymore travelling?

You might be perfect for my project - I'm thinking of a drop in centre for women who live on the sidewalks - a place where they can go, have some chai, maybe a shower, maybe get some extra blankets, where their kids could play a little and perhaps get some English so they could go to school. I'm thinking essentially of a place where the women could meet other women living in the same way, perhaps get together to provide each other with some safety, really a place where they can experience being treated well, where their kids are given a leg up to maybe someday break the cycle of poverty. I doubt it would work in the same way that a similar project here would work - different parameters entirely, but people are people and we all need to be treated well. I might have some funding but won't know for awhile. A friend here is also very interested in doing this and she'd be great at it. We really need to partner with an existing NGO like Vidya because, of course, Hindu language is essential for the bulk of the work. But CCS volunteers could step in to teach the children English and to spend time with the women teaching practical and useful skills like knitting/sewing but not, I don't think, on the same scale or with the same intent that Daniel had - more to actually cloth their own kids.

It's really nice here this time of year> 19 or 20 during the day but down to around 0 at night (sort of December in Delhi weather). On the coast (Vancouver) it is much milder; during the day it's about the same but it doesn't drop as much at night. Nice weather to travel in because you don't need heavy coats. Hoodies do it.

As for romanticising the lake - I do it too but as much as it will hurt to leave I see it as inevitable. Luckily, there won't be a rush to buy because the real estate market has cooled and I just don't want to sell it badly enough to let it go cheap. I can hang on for the right person and then I'll be able to leave knowing it's in good hands.

I really really like having only one place though - boy what a relief. It's so much less work. Take care, Cathy

True, I am thinking again! But nothing is certain. Right now I'm getting ready for winter; I feel like a squirrel having to get the wood in, make sure everything is winterized, buy a snow blower so I can dig out once the snow does start. Still, it beats living in town. I'm really excited for you - only two more weeks. I realize they are tough weeks but knowing you I'm not at all worried.

If you're coming through here, you know you'll be more than welcome. I don't exactly know where I'll be because I've just put the word out to a realtor that this lake property is for sale but only with specific conditions and at top dollar so I'm not expecting to move at all quickly. It would be wonderful to see you though regardless of where it is.

Hi - funny how a short little stay in India can make family out of such a diverse group, isn't it! Think of you lots, hope everything's great at your end. Cathy
