- I am currently a student at Rush University in Chicago, IL. I recently moved from Boston, Ma where I attended Northeastern University for my undergrad. I am pretty new to this volunteering service so any advice would be very helpful. I am very excited for my first volunterring trip in Dec when I will be traveling to Ayacucho Peru!

- AYACUCHO! I was just there in August!!!!! Ah! You're going to have such a fantastic time!!!!! When you go to the Prison market, there is a brown dog there, super friendly, his name is Bruno. Say hi to Bruno for me!!!!

My flight goes via Atlanta, it departs atlanta at 17.10 and arrives in Lima at 23.50 - but I had to travel on the 11th Dec because the 12th was so expensive! But I've been emailing a lady who did CCS in Ayacucho a few years ago and she said she made a friend in Lima at a B&B who would pick me up from the airport at midnight and take me to the B&B (and back to airport early on the 13th). I will send you all the emails - she's sent LOADS. And emphasises the importance of Spanish! Do you speak Spanish?
In the states my mom's from New Jersey originally. My grandparents lived in South Carolina for a long time and I spent 3 months in Charleston a few years ago. They now live near my Aunt, Uncle and cousin in Georgia. And I have relatives and close friends in New York state and Long Island. So mostly East coast! Got family in Texas but I've never been.
I can't believe I'm going to Ayacucho for 3 months... am I nuts? I just wanted that long term really deep emerge yourself experience! hehe!
I'm so glad I know someone already!!

I've never volunteered abroad before. I've done a few things here in England, mostly working with disadvantaged young people and young offenders. CCS and Peru will be a totally new experience for me!
I've never really stayed in a poor country either. Mostly I've travelled in Europe and to the States, and once to Dubai. So I expect it will be a big change but I can't wait!
