I haven't made it to Bagamoyo yet. Probably next year I will think seriously about it. I've exceeded my vacation quota for the year with the CCS Morocco and the CCS Brazil programs plus other travel this year...

Hi Michael - The Morocco program in July was amazing! I worked at an orphanage and it was a really rewarding experience. The home base and in-country staff are wonderful and you'll have a great time. If you don't speak Arabic they do give you some basic lessons which will help with your placement.

I would highly recommend it.

Hi Michael! Bagamoyo was an experience of a lifetime. I think about those precious children every day with hopes of seeing them again. The staff was 'family' and we had a terrific group of volunteers. The only problem that I couldn't resolve: the bloody heat! I lost weight from perspiration alone. Of course, I did choose Jan/Feb. I'd return in a heartbeat to volunteer with womens empowerment projects ...with time for hugs and tying shoes at day care!

Hi Michael - I see that you volunteered in Bagamoyo in September. I am curious to know what the weather was like at that time? I'm doing the Morocco program in July and then trying to decide what to do in Septemer/October timeframe.

cabbie...I just came across your comments; your enthusiasm about Bagamoyo jumps off the page, This is the first time I've read their national anthem. Asante. I'm heading to Bagamoyo in two weeks; my first venture to Africa and volunteering outside of my comfort zone. I'm more than excited about the challenges ahead. My grandkids think this is the my awesome adventure too. I have great friends in New York in the catering business. You sound like the perfect guy for this 'work' if you're looking for additonal pesas for your next adventure. Let me know! Carla
