Ola Megan!! Thank you so much for your reply. Teaching basic English was one of the main fields of interest for me so its cool to hear that you did exactly that and the fact that it was with different age groups is also really exciting. Did you do any formal qualifications before you went to Brazil like TEFL or something similar? I'm not sure if I would need that kind of thing or if its ok just to have English as you first language? Also I'd be really interested to hear about your experiences with the local brazilian people. Part of the reason I would love to volunteer in Brazil is to get completely immersed in the local culture and people. Obviously this is somewhat constrained by how good your portuguese is but did you find that this was easy to do? Did you find the people of salvador welcoming and willing to befriend the volunteers and how long were you there for? Cheers again for all your knowledge and experience! Obrigadissimo!

Hi - a complicated question without a good answer I'm afraid. I wanted a very different cultural experience from other places I had traveled and thought Asia was the way to go. I am also not sure when I will be able to piece together 3 weeks of time off from my job again. I couldn't decide between Trang and Bangkok but opted for Bangkok for my first foray into trans-cultural volunteerism. Just seemed there was more to do in the "down time". I am very excited and know that whatever lies ahead will be an amazing experience. Can't wiat to share part of it with you!

Hey! I feel like I have a billion questions! What did you do in your free time? What was the home base like? What were the people in the community like towards you? What was your placement? Did you fundraise/are you fundraising for your next trip? Any tips?
Haha you asked if I had questions! ;)
Take your time in responding...
You can also e-mail me at rhenderson@bridgew.edu, if that is easier than commenting.

Hi! I'm going to Morocco on the 20th, too! Currently fundraising my trip, so I hope everything works out. Are you fundraising? Hope to see you there!
