Hi Laiah! I am in New Delhi safe & sound, my GI has been doing well so far thanks to your advice! I got kicked by the heat today, though. It is quite powerful...

Hey Laiah. I just started reading your blogspot and it's really wonderful. I've just read a bit of it and I'm already getting emotional remembering India! Thanks for sharing; I can't wait to continue reading.

Hi Laiah! I'm going to Cape Town in July for three months. Seems like you had some fun times! I was wondering if you have any suggestions as to what to do/see, or any other advice. Please let me know! =]

Hey Laiah, great to meet you. Wow! it sounds like you've had some amazing experiences abroad. I know some people who have studied over in New Delhi and they told me India is incredible. It's cool that you're in the DC area, I live in Potomac, MD. What are you up to now-a-days? I'm planning on hosting a Charity beer pong tournament at a bar in downtown, Bethesda on June 13th. You should come if you're interested. In any event I would love to talk to you about Cape Town. I really want to get a list together of things that I must do or see while I'm over there.

Wow!!! Your trip sounds wonderful. It seems to me that it is changing both you and the people you are helping on your trip in many ways. I am going to Lima, Peru in 5 days. Yikes!!! Writing it aloud makes it actually seem real! I hope you write more blog posts, because I really enjoy reading them.

Hi Laiah,
I've just been reading your blog, you seem to have a real talent for descriptive writing, it's a form I use while writing my boxing articles on the web-site I write for, rather than say Joe Blogss threw two left hooks and a straight right, I try and convey the atmosphere at the show. I really enjoyed your prose and will see you tomorrow or Sunday morning.

Namaste Laiah,
Aap kese hai? I'm very much looking forward to meeting you and all the other members (I note that I may be the only male in the team), I have my placement with the "Habitat" group with teenagers specifically, which should be very interesting as I have a 15 year old grand-daughter and she keeps me on my toes! My kids (?) are 36 and 39 this year and are both based and live in London. I'll see you I guess on Saturday morning as I don't get into Delhi until 23.30hrs on the Friday evening. Namaste! Tom

school days

Sitting barefoot on the dirty mats with red uniforms that are too big, they cried out:

“I love India!”

“India is the best!”

“I am proud of my India!”

Flies rested on their gelled back dark hair. Mice scurried in the corners of the class. Yet they still exclaimed their love for India.

My students can’t ever forget the fact they are from the slums. Everywhere they look is garbage and poverty. The writing above the doorway to the school says “Learning Centre for Slum Children.” In a country wi… Continue

Happy Republic Day!

*for more go to www.curlsonthecape.blogspot.com

For the first time, I woke up and it was silent.

Absolutely.

Silent.

I laid in bed with my eyes closed, and thought it was 4 am, but I felt rested, so I looked at my phone.

9 AM.

Something was wrong.

WHY WAS IT QUIET?!

There were no cars, no car horns, no hammering, and no vendors walking through the apartment village selling fruit or collecting junk. I could hear myself breathe.

I was highly confused until I remembered today was a nationa… Continue
