About me:
I've had a burning desire to travel for as long as I can remember but I've always delayed it or not had the time/money to do it. Actually, if I'm honest, I probably just didn't have the balls and liked my safe and comfortable life here in the UK! But all that is about to change!! I realised that this is something I really need to do and the prospect of pushing myself to do it and hopefully making a small difference to someones life is so exciting!

Hey!
That sounds awesome!!! Totally stoked for you!!! I am signed up to volunteer from Dec 12-Jan 2. I may extend, we will see....possibly until the middle of January, so another 2 weeks or maybe just 1. I have some friends coming at the end of January and some in February for Carnival! Whoopppeee!!! And in regards to work, It was quite easy to get my job, but having connections definitely helped me out! I'm sure once you are here you will meet lots of people. But it definitely doesn't hurt to check out some places before you go :)

Oi!
Sorry it took me so long to respond! I am just preparing my life to move to Brazil! haha! I move on June 2! So my life is a little scattered right now! :)
Anyways yes, it would be wonderful to meet up later this year! You must come!! You will love it! I worked at Escola Frutos de Maes, which is a school funded by the government for less fortunate families. The kids range from toddlers to 8 or 9 (I think) It's so hard to tell there age! haha. Anyways, it was a daycare-school. Preparing them to be accepted into the public schools. I had the 2-3/4 year olds, and they were the most beautiful amazing kids ever! We would play activities with them, play outside, bathe them, feed them and put them to sleep. I am seriously so attached to those kids! There is many other volunteer placements, like orphanages, working with seniors and people with disabilities, teaching english... Aside from volunteer placement, there is so much to see and do! There is a tour every week with Bruno, you get to see some really awesome places! There is portuguese classes, samba and capoeira classes...soo fun! You will make amazing friends!!! It's seriously life changing!!! xoxo

Hey Henry-
I would definitely suggest doing work teaching English in one of the favelas. I did that work when I was in Salvador during January and I taught three different classes - one with younger kids, one with preteens, and one with teenagers and adults. I really liked how I got to interact and teach English to different ages - I really learned a lot about the favela and Brazil from everyone, and every person had diff perspectives. I think you would enjoy this placement if you are looking to work with young people and adults!
