Hi there!! Nope - I've never done anything like this. I mean - I've certainly volunteered locally in Houston, but never abroad like this. I cannot WAIT!!! I'm not in love with running...but as long as I can exercise while I'm there...I'll do anything! It would be great to be able to teach aerobics in Peru...in Spanish!! Could you imagine?!?!? We're gonna have a wonderful time!! :)

Dena, I really think that flying is the best bet as the bus will take so long and we really don't have that much time. The last I looked, flights were around $300. I can look into more when I get there and will keep you up to date! ;-) As for immunizations, I have all of mine from my last trip to Thailand. It'll be good for you to get another tetanus shot, polio update and hepatitis A and B (series of 2 shots, the second you can get when you get back and you will never need them again) if you feel you need it. You can also get Malaria pills but that is only if you are going to the Amazon area-- otherwise you do not need it as they make most people feel sick. I know this sounds gross but diarrhea pills is something you might want to consider asking your doctor for a prescription for. The food will be different and sometimes things just don't sit well-- and feeling sick when you are away form the comforts of your own home is horrible. I know!! ;-)
One week to go- yeah!

Hi Dena,
No, I haven't received my placement yet but you'll be one of the first to know! Less than 2 weeks-- the days are flying by!! I'm going to bring a hairdryer and 2 electrical converters so no need 2 bring them if you want to share. ;-) I also have some audio Spanish dvd's but I'm not sure if we have a dvd player in the house-- do you know if we do?
I'll talk to you soon- Ann
