Febreeze! I can not stress the importance of it! Especially in the rainly season. Washing and drying basically takes day because its probably going to have to stay on the lines at least 3 days…. So they smell horrible. Even after you iron everythi...

1. FLIP FLOPS!!!! you will wear them everywhere. It is SOOOOO HOOOTTT and you do not want your feet covered up. Also a pair of tennis shoes as you do go on a hike, or if you want to go running ever.

2. Just know white does not wear well there. And everything you bring will get DIRTY! so be prepared for that. You need nothing really long sleeved or jeans of anykind. At its coldest MAYBE you could throw on a light zip up or light weight long sleeve (that will be like 3 times tops). Even then you don't need it. Also a rain jacket is not really necessary. It does rain but random spouts. i would say an umbrella is more helpful and effective.

3. Yes there is electricity. Bring a converter for your things- although one power strip in the house works to convert. But for travel and if you need to use ur electronics elsewhere. Cell phone is ok, however you can buy a cheap one there and put minutes on it if you want to avoid dealing with making your plan international. Also computer is a plus as there is wireless internet at the internet cafe in town.

Um.. Ghana only takes Visa cards NOT MASTERCARD. Travellers checks are a pain in the ass, avoid them if you can. Cash is easiest to change at the airport or bank in town. Or just bring ur visa to withdrawal money from an ATM.
Bring some supplies to use at ur placement. markers, crayons, stickers, pencils, pens, construction paper, a good pair of scissors. Craft ideas. childrens books. Songs and games to play with small children. The supply room sucks over there.
books to read- you have a lot of time to so that. Also they have a library in the house of books left behind that you can borrow from too, so maybe even bring books ur willing to leave.
No real sweets there. Pack along power bars, chocolate, peanut butter, maybe dry cereal, like snack packs. All that is nice to have on hand. Breakfast each morning is basically eggs- so if you hate them then bring an alternative.
an ipod.
a sling purse, something easy to carry around town and to ur placement. Mine was my saving grace. a small bag to use to weekend travel.
Toner for your face. It is so hot and sweaty and although i am not a toner person i wished i had it there- your face always feels oily.
a book light to read in bed, or a personal little fan...

i cant think of anything else right now. let me knwo if you have any other ?s
