Amelia, vaccinations are v important. Why not go back and ask the nurse to give you an updated patient record card, it is your right to have one?

That's no good! luckily my nurse had all the right info. But I had a jab (can't remember what for!) a few years ago and the record said it would last 2-5 years! Not very clear! And my nurse wasn't too helpful in suggesting whether or not I should have the update!
Oh well. I'll take anything, better safe than sorry!

Hy U.K Volunteers, I thought that you might like to hear about my vaccination problems, so that you can avoid any mistakes.

In essence, be aware that your GP / Practice Nurse may not be bang up to date with vaccinations. For instance, you can have a combined Hepatitis A & B vaccination free on the NHS, not all GPs know this so you have to ask for it otherwise you will have to pay £40-00 a shot for your 3 seperate Hep B vaccinations.
Also, even though my GP knew about my volunteering for 4 weeks in Trang, working with, possibly, the poorest / unwell locals, they did not suggest Typhoid vaccination. Neither did they consider the possibility of Rabies. Which with the attendant risk of local 'blood products' that would be used if bitten, was a glaring ommission.

I would reccomend going to Trailfinders, or another reputable Company who deal with, and is more Au Fait with, current travel vaccinations. True you have to pay, but better to get good advice here than get ill wherever you are travelling to.
