Hi, my name is Karen. This is the first time I am volunteering abroad. I am very excited. If there is any advice or insight anyone can give me, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Personally, I think our gov't needs to help out..but I guess that's just my opinion.

No, its not saying that volunteering is bad. Listen to video. Its about Gov't to Gov't Aid that is growing corruption.

Christina, not here to start a fight, but I disagree. Maybe there are better ways, but there's not really a way that our volunteering will be bad..just saying.

Don't hate me for posting this but:

FOREIGN AID IS NOT THE SOLUTION TO END POVERTY.

Dambisa Moyo is the author of "Dead Aid: Why Aid is Not Working and How There is a Better Way For Africa" which became a New York Times bestseller.

In May 2009 TIME magazine named her one of the 100 most influential people in the world.

She argues against Government aid to Africa and for more innovative ways to finance development. These include reducing trade barriers and protectionism, trade with China, accessing the capital markets, and microfinance.
