I am considering Morocco for about 3 weeks starthing June 27th, but as most people are I'm having a hard time deciding. If I do go with Rabat I also wanted to travel into Spain and Portugal after the program...was wondering if anyone was up for that?

Hi Emily, I worked with street children at the Ibny school last November and it was a very rewarding experience. Ages range from 4 to 9 years and it is a challenge, but the school is supportive and will appreciate your contribution. See also my previous comment on February 8. Enjoy your stay you will love it and the memories will stay with you for ever.

i was wondering if anyone has any direct experience working with the street children and if they were willing to share. I'm trying to decide on the right program so any info would help! thanks

Hi i am thinking about going to Morocco later on in the year, Right now i am trying to figure out how much it is going to cost me. I was wondering how much spending money i should bring with me. Also i would love to hear some stories of anyones trip to Morocco!

Hi LaVerne, you and anyone else going, will love Morocco. The people there are very friendly, the food is good and wholesome and the homebase is a large house where all the volunteers live, a short taxi ride outside of Rabat. The area is safe to walk and there are shops and restaurants nearby. Also the CCS support team there are very comitted to ensure that you get the most out of your time in Morocco. You will work mornings on your placement, which can be the street children school, hospital or orphanage, afternoons is spent on cultural activities and the evenings and weekends are your time to spend as you please to visit the amazing cities and to meet with the people.
Alicia, if it's the same Youssoufia that I know, it's a large sprawling suburb of Rabat with very mixed community and housing. The centre of Rabat is a short Taxi ride.
All of you going to Morocco with CCS will enjoy going there, there is so much to experience and the Moroccan people are genuinly appreciative. You will also find that Sharon, the CCS Program Manager will try to support you in any way she can before you go and this will continue with the in country team when you get there. You can help their resources greatly if you can manage to take some childrens wax crayons, sprinkle glitter and glue with you. They are unobtainable in Morocco but the children love to use them and you will get a lot of pleasure from their smiles of delight.
