Hi,
I'm considering volunteering this summer at the medical clinic in Kilimanjaro. Is there anyone who volunteered there who could tell me about his or her experience?
Thanks!

I volunteered for 4 weeks at the Bondeni clinic in Moshi, Kilimanjaro. I am a registered nurse. I didn't feel like my skills were very useful because of the language barrier. The "mama" of the clinic that spoke English very well was on vacation the first 3 weeks I was there. The rest of the staff could communicate only minimally. I felt badly for the nurse that was there because it was difficult and time consuming for her to try to explain things to me. But nevertheless, I enjoyed it very much and learned a lot - mainly how to provide patient care with very little equipment or supplies. The staff was very welcoming and loving.
