Hi! I will be starting my program in Ayacucho on May 10, and I feel like I have no idea what kind of clothing to pack! It probably sounds silly, but with only a backpack, I want to make sure I'm bringing the most sensible clothing. There seems to be a large temperature range, and if anyone has been during the months of May/June, maybe you could shed some light on whether we should be packing more on the warm side, ie: sweaters, warm coat, etc. or if a light jacket will do. Thank you!

I think a light jacket will do - keep in mind, you might want to buy a sweater or wrap in Ayacucho. I was there last May and the weather was perfect. but bring layers, that way you can add as needed. Like a long sleeve tee shirt, a thin sweater, and a light jacket all at once if necessary. I wore long jeans most of the time. Of course, if you are planning a trip to Cusco, it's a lot cooler there. There are washing machines on the roof, so I ended wearing the same things over and over and just washing them frequently (or I admit, not so frequently).
