I'm keen to increase the numbers of volunteers from the UK. have used to read a lot on the topic, found great blogs by http://rapid4me search engine , understood the importance of the action and decided it's worth trying. If anyone knows anyone who might be interested in finding out more about CCS volunteering tell the to contact me I'd love to hear from them! it's a great opportunity to do smth really important in this world.

Chelsey - My daughter and I spent last July in Moshi and had a fabulous time. The homebase, the assignments and our fellow volunteers were amazing. I loved being in Moshi and preferred it to being in Arusha (which is a fairly big city, very busy, very crowded). Any specific questions you have, I'd be happy to answer. Just do it! Mimi

Hey Megan, my roommate (while in karanga) flew ethiopian and had no issues. She said she would travel with them again.

Hello, I am interested in volunteering in Tanzania this upcoming summer (2010). I am wondering if anyone had any suggestions of where i should go...so far I'm leaning towards Rural Kilimanjaro.

Am going to Bagamoyo (Aug 29th start) for 3 weeks. Would love to hear from anyone else going there or who has been there.

Mimi--I I was like you. I tried to learn on my own. I found it very difficult. I stuck the the very basics and the most useful (like greetings and commands). Once you are immersed in the language it will be easier. The staff will constantly help you speak it and you will have lessons. You are ahead of a lot of people by studying before you go. many people in my group didn't seem to do that.

Mimi, I learned swahili and it did make a difference. It was quick and easy to immerse into the culture. Just remember that greetings are a priority for this culture. If anything learn speak and respond to greetings. You will also receive swahili classes at homebase everyday.
