Hey Everyone,

I am looking for fundraising ideas and success stories, as well as photos and videos from successful fundraising events! Fundraising can be a difficult task for many, but with the right tools, resources, motivations and enthusiasm, it can be a lot of fun and add even more meaning to the volunteering experience! Whether you are alumni, enrolled volunteers or even prospective volunteers, your fundraising ideas and support can make all the difference for others trying to figure where and how to start.

You can reply to this thread with a story, picture or idea, or you can email me at ileana@crossculturalsolutions.org. I am looking forward to hearing from you!!

I saw an article that was really neat. It talked about how to fundraise with a vending machine. If you have the budget I guess you could buy one, and just ask a local business to help you by hosting it for you. But the way this makes it sound is like vending machine companies can probably set them up for you and do all the work, except they take a cut of the profit.
The article pretty much says that there's no investment or risk for the charity (of course, if the company is the one providing the machine for free and all). Also, it doesn't require that many volunteer hours - someone just has to go and collect the money and restock the machine if necessary.
Here is the whole article: http://davidsvending.ca/why-its-effective-to-fundraise-with-a-vendi...

I hosted a BBQ Dinner for which I cooked traditional East African food and got tej (honey mead wine - a traditional East African wine) and Tusker (Kenyan beer)... I invited people, presenting possible donation levels in interesting ways ($31 = 10 miles on the way there $37 = 10 miles on the way back (which way do YOU want to send me?)
$58 = 1 hour of flight time) and asked them to write a short note which i'm taking with me as a part of my "show and tell" - all the people that helped me get there... I neted my plane ticket by doing 2 dinners - and friends were really excited to be able to participate in this way!

I would like to offer a fundraising suggestion
that can be used by schools, youth groups
and charities, little leagues!

The opportunity is Toolbars4charity.
An organization will earn revenue every
time a member searches the Internet
using their ToolBars4Charity toolbar.
(current toolbar not replaced)

HOW!!
Yahoo makes millions from paid
advertisers and now a portion of
that is being donated to organizations
using this toolbar. There is NO cost,
this is 100% free!!

WHY!
Yahoo wants to catch up with Google,
this is a way for them to get more action.

The United Way, The Salvation Army,
The MS Society are already doing this.
This really does work and will generate
a revenue.

Please click here for more details.

For any questions contact the website,
they have great support.

Dear Patricia I hope you are feeling better and that you are able to go to South Africa as planned. However, I will be there from 2/27-3/20 just incase your plans are pushed back :)
